The Buzz | Movie maker offers prizes for help with film

The Courier Journal;

Trevor Simms grew up in Shelby County, graduated from Western Kentucky University, then moved to Hollywood to pursue movie making.

Today Simms is living his dream, but he needs your donations to complete his goal. He's offering some creative items in return for a few bucks to go toward the finishing touches on his action-thriller titled "Misirlou."

Simms says his 85-minute movie has been airing as 15 episodes on YouTube during a 30-day Kickstarter campaign, which began April 27. With just under two weeks left, the campaign has collected $11,600 of the $26,000 Simms says he needs to finish the film. The money will go toward a professional sound mix, music rights, visual effects and a cinematic score.

In exchange for pledges, "Misirlou" offers T-shirts, posters, DVD/Blu-Ray bundles, plus higher rewards like tickets to movie premieres, your name in the film's producer titles, the motorcycle used during the filming, and The Buzz's personal favorite, a co-starring role in the sequel to "Misirlou."

Simms wrote the screen play for the movie. He also plays the lead role, shoots the scenes he's not appearing in and has edited the film. Now he just needs a little KickStart (er) to get over the hump.
