A couple of local Kickstarter crowdfunding campaigns have seen success, one spectacularly, one less so — but success is success.

Uptown Inventor Bobby Davis, once featured in an article of mine, has hit the funding target for his latest project in just a few days:

My current project, the CB + P  (CounterBalance + Pen), uses a simple but effective precision brass sliding counterbalance for a unique and innovative way to balance your pen. The CB + P project is 5 days old and is already funded at 106%, with 28 days to go.

Davis adds:

My previous project, the Adjust-O-Weight pen, funded with nearly $11,000 and was successfully delivered to Kickstarter backers. When folks drive and walk through my Uptown neighborhood, little do they know that one cog in the crowdfunded  “third industrial revolution” is going on, not more than 10 feet from the sidewalk.

Minneapolis company Pad & Quill (also featured in that article) also has succeeded in its second Kickstarter campaign with about a week to go.

The company’s Micro Field Bag, and its earlier Littlest Black Book Case, began as April Fool’s pranks since they’re semi-absurd miniature versions of larger P&Q products.

In each case, though, the company committed to shipping the product if funded on Kickstarter. The products are listed for sale on the P&Q site here and here.

The Micro Field Bag, a tiny counterpart to the company’s Field Bag,  is designed to protect an iPhone, with a hole cut in the flap for earbuds, and slots for credit cards and cash.
