heartandslash2Barely a week into its campaign and the team at “aheartfulofgames” has surpassed the 50% funding mark on Heart & Slash.  The 3rd person roguelike brawler features an adorable robot named Heart that malfunctions and starts fighting against the powers of standardization in order to find his own identity.  Is the game a little heavy on the social commentary right out of the gate?  Maybe, but something about the game has connected with backers, whether it’s the story, the cartoonish art style, the frantic action, or the huge variety of weapons and body parts; who knows.  It probably can’t hurt that the developers have run a very active campaign thus far, with lots of updates, backer engagement, and press mailings.  As of this writing over $12,000 has been pledged, and there’s still a month left in the campaign, so they’re certainly doing something right!

Head over to the Heart & Slash Kickstarter page to learn more about the game, including its unique love story, the developers design philosophy, and information on some pretty solid backer rewards.
