Lumi Winewall

Wine barrels, surprisingly, don't last nearly as long as the wine they help age. Help repurpose a few with Lumi's Winewall, a modular and expandable system of back-illuminated staves that hold up to 7 bottles apiece. Each 40" stave is drilled, lightly sanded, finished with a custom Danish oil to preserve its individuality, then fitted with a 24-LED lighting strip for back-illumination plus a rubberized support for wall mounting. It's bound to make us try and keep from finishing all our bottles, lest our walls end up covered in bare, illuminated staves. (Read More)

Sonoma Designer Launches Modular Illuminated Wine Wall on Kickstarter

April 3rd - via: prweb.com
Dale Rorabaugh, the designer and creator of the LUMI Wine Wall brings a new purpose for retired French and American Oak wine barrels. The average life of a wine or spirit barrel is just 5 - 7 years. For such a resource rich material to be disposed of after such a short period of use seemed to him a waste of natural resources. So, Rorabaugh set about finding a way to reuse the barrels to create handcrafted functional works of art where the environmental value of the wood would be appreciated. (Read More)
