After a dozen or more years apiece kicking around the AAA side of the games industry, the three men behind Ragtag Studio embraced independence. Jimmy Interviews: Ragtag Studio Founder – Chris Cobb

The Best Pun On Kickstarter: Ray’s The Dead

September 2nd - via: rockpapershotgun.com
It’s been a while since we’ve heard from strategy-puzzler Ray’s The Dead, which first showed up at Sony’s E3 conference in 2013. The eponymous Ray is a zombie with the power to control others, giving the game a great blend of dark humour and tactical party-based action. Developers Ragtag Studio went dark after an unsuccessful Kickstarter attempt, busily self-funding for the last year. Now they’re back with a slicker Kickstarter that’s doing far better, and a lower funding goal thanks to some outside assistance. Their plan is to use the $30,000 (£18k)–a target they’ve already hit–to hire contractors to improve specific areas of the game. The higher the total goes, the more they want to bring in as full-time staff. (Read More)

Undead indie adventure, Ray's the Dead, needs community support to reach its Kickstarter Stretch Goals

August 28th - via: digitallydownloaded.net
I'm going to adorn a clip-on tie, inch the tenderest parts of my buttocks to the edge of my seat, and confess something that I almost always defer telling a charming woman on the first date: I'm madly passionate about gaming (crazy, right?). But my passion is allergenic animal dander compared to Ragtag Studio's, a three-person team of game designers who actually quit their jobs to pursue their gaming dream, to develop Ray's the Dead, an aspiration that can be fully realized with a bit of community support. (Read More)

Know Your Developer: Ragtag Studio

August 19th - via: gamercrash.com
A relative newcomer to the scene, Ragtag Studio is currently a three man team formerly from Wideload Disney and are currently working hard on their upcoming game, Ray’s The Dead. Ray’s the Dead hits Kickstarter

August 19th - via: psnstores.com
Flash back to E3 2013. Sony had just announced the PlayStation 4 at the start of the week and their showroom floor was buzzing with indies like Octodad: Dadliest Catch, Secret Ponchos (where are you?!) and a little playable PS4 demo for Ray’s the Dead. Ray’s the Dead Resurrects Its Kickstarter

August 19th - via: hardcoregamer.com
Remember last year when Ray’s the Dead tried for Kickstarter success, only to pull the plug on the campaign a few days from the end? Admitted, it was only a third of the way to its goal with very little time left on the clock, but Ragtag Studio figured a better presentation combined with a business opportunity that popped up during the campaign would lead to more likely success. (Read More)

Give Zombies A Chance In Pikmin Inspired Ray’s The Dead

August 18th - via: cliqist.com
I misspoke a few articles back, in a way, by condemning this fading fad of zombie-related games. Now, I absolutely have no intention to withdraw any statement I’ve made, because I really do hope the fad itself passes, but every once in awhile a game comes along that makes me enthusiastic about the subject matter once again. It’s rare, but it certainly happens, and it certainly happened when I took a look at the Kickstarter campaign for Ray’s the Dead. (Read More)

Set in the 80′s, you play as Ray. Ray is dead. Sort of. Ray is un-dead. Why is Ray undead, and why does he have a giant lightbulb sticking out of his head? Well, the story surrounds not only Ray’s journey to find his place in the world as a zombie, but you also get to play through his life-before-death through playable flashbacks (via interactive storytelling elements). (Read More)

Ray’s the Dead coming to PlayStation 4

June 13th - via: psnation.com
Another fantastic looking game coming to the PlayStation 4 as a downloadable title. Briefly shown at the 2013 E3 Sony conference, I immediately wanted to know more about this great little game. It’s being developed by a small indie developer based in Chicago, called Ragtag Studio’s which was founded in 2011. The team is comprised of friends and industry veterans, Matt Carter, Chris Cobb, and Shawn Halwes. (Read More)
