Feature: Kickstarter's Wii U and 3DS Campaigns - 12th May

May 12th - via: nintendolife.com
It's that time again when we provide updates on a batch of Kickstarter projects currently doing the rounds for Wii U and 3DS. It seems that there's some momentum around the Wii U eShop, in particular, as we're consistently being pointed to fresh projects that have included Nintendo's home console in their funding targets. As always this focuses on existing projects, so those already funded or otherwise aren't included. (Read More)

Mobile Makes Friends with PC for Salvaged

April 20th - via: cliqist.com
Imagine you’re a person. Now imagine that person has a mobile device, be it an iPhone, iPad, Android, or Android-based tablet. Imagine that person also has a PC, and they’re just dying for a way to use their mobile device and PC in beautiful, harmonious tangent. Now tell that imaginary person to read this article about Salvaged, an upcoming title for PC that, you guessed it, uses a mobile device in a pretty cool way. It’s not exactly a mobile game, but it’s not exactly a PC game either. Maybe it is, but it’s… A… PC game that you control with your mobile… It makes sense when I’m not trying to explain it, I promise. (Read More)

Second Screen Shotgun: Salvaged

April 17th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
Despite how we, you or some ridiculous “they” may rant and rave about the legions of samey military shooters or other popular genre, games are the realm of the new and PC gaming most of all. Salvaged is right out there towards the edge of the new. It takes the tactical action of XCOM and places it on a touch device, controlled in real-time, with the first person views of soldiers showing up on your monitor. It’s a properly two-screen game, trying to simulate being an elite commander more accurately by getting rid of our so 20th century control mechanisms. I first saw it at Rezzed this year, where twelve member nu-team Opposable Games positively filled up the Leftfield Collection’s hallway, along with the sizable crowd. It’s now up on Kickstarter, chasing $125k, and you can see the pitch video, as well as my thoughts having spoken to them a little, below. (Read More)

Kickstarter Weekly vol. 23

April 16th - via: indiehaven.com
Think Spelunky mixed with Mega Man X and you’ll have something pretty close to Echoes of Eridu. It’s an action platformer which apparently plays similar to the Mega Man X games, but comes with a lot of roguelike inspired features, including permadeath and procedurally generated levels. One of the core ideals behind the game is to make it as replayable as possible – you get new stages and challenges thrown at you in each playthrough, and you have multiple very different characters to choose from. (Read More)
