It's Fine For The Rich & Famous To Use Kickstarter; Bjork's Project Failed Because It Was Lame

February 15th - via:
You may have heard about the high profile failure of Bjork's Kickstarter campaign. She sought £375,000 not for a new album, but to make a port of her last album's app, Biophillia, from iOS to Android and Windows 8. Many are saying that the project failed because she's rich and famous and could have just paid for everything herself. But that seems silly. There are plenty of ways that the rich and famous can make use of crowdfunding and plenty of reasons why it makes sense to do so. The project failed because it was a bad project for crowdfunding, and because Bjork isn't necessarily connected with her fans in a way that makes sense for crowdfunding. (Read More)

February 8th - via:
An attempt by Bjork to crowdsource funds to continue work on her Biophilia project has been cancelled, according to the project's web page. The Icelandic singer had launched the campaign on Kickstarter at the beginning of the year, asking for £375,000 ($591,000) to create Android and Windows 8 versions of the app, which turns the concepts and songs of the album into interactive art. In 10 days, however, just over £15,000, or $23,600, had been raised."Dear Folks!" her message began, all in lower case. "Thanks so much for your donations! (Read More)

February 8th - via:
The Kickstarter campaign to fund a Windows 8 and Android version of Biophilia, a music app from the mind of singer Björk, has been halted well before the scheduled end of the campaign.
