Kickstarter Game Developer Haiku Collection

September 2nd - via: cliqist.com
It’s a bit of a tradition that whenever I interview someone for Cliqist I ask them to put together a brief haiku to describe them, their company, or their game. Since we’re celebrating the one year anniversary of Cliqist this week I figure it would be as good a time as any to look back at some of them. All the haiku’s were written by the person being interviewed, and are listed in the order in which they appeared on the site. Some are great, some not so much, but each is interesting in its own right. (Read More)

Crowdfund Bookie, December 2013: Squeaking by

January 3rd - via: joystiq.com
As the weeks go by, the video game crowdfunding space appears to be under a shift of sorts. December 2013 saw the second-lowest total amount of dollars raised by gaming projects ($2,331,061) in the last seven months, since we began tracking such data. Unlike September 2013's $2,211,975 raised, backers in December managed to fund 40 projects, the second-highest number of successful projects in, again, the past seven months. (Read More)

In want of good fortune: Ever, Jane is the Kickstarter-funded MMO based on the novels of Jane Austen

December 16th - via: edge-online.com
Whether it’s Cyrano de Bergerac predicting solar-powered spaceships or HG Wells positing biological warfare and military drones, it’s disturbing when you realise your favourite science fiction predicted the future. Yet who’d have thought that British sci-fi sitcom Red Dwarf’s prediction of Jane Austen World would one day come true? (Read More)

December 3rd - via: mmobomb.com
Ever, Jane just squeaked by and reached their $100k Kickstarter goal, by giving pledge rewards like an “Associate producer” credit for $500 and a “Lead Producer” credit for $5000, in case you want to pizzazz your resume. This regal MMO will allow players to wield gossip as their weapon of choice, as you build your status through social ladder-climbing rather than slaughtering foes. (Read More)

More Bookish Kickstarters Worth Backing

November 26th - via: bookriot.com
On my list of things to be thankful for this year, I think I might just have to add Kickstarter. Judy L. Tyrer Gossips About Ever, Jane

November 21st - via: cliqist.com
Judy L. Tyrer recently took some time out of her busy schedule to talk to us about the MMO she’s currently seeking funds for on Kickstarter, Ever, Jane. This unique online RPG tosses much of what we’ve come to expect from MMO’s; namely killing, looting, and level grinding out the window. Instead, you’ll find yourself transported into the world of Jane Austen, with all of the ballroom dancing, curtsying, and gossip you’d expect. Read on to find out more about Ever, Jane, and its industry vet creator. Maybe you’ll understand why we named this a project to back in our most recent edition of Budget Backer. (Read More)
