Point And Perish: The Eldritch Cases – Dagon

April 28th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
The Eldritch Cases: Dagon is an embellished adaptation of Humbert Percival Lovecraft’s The Shadow over Innsmouth, although it might be more accurate to say it’s a mash-up of some of his most popular works. Herbert West will make an appearance as the villain, for example, and some of Pickman’s models might well show up. For those who enjoyed Dark Corners Of The Earth until it started shooting from the hip a little too often, Eldritch Cases has the advantage of being a point and click game. In a genre not known for gunplay and panicked escape sequences, it’s fair to expect a greater emphasis on investigation and puzzling, although that could well mean reconstructing cuneiform tablets via the medium of sliding block puzzles. Let’s hope not! (Read More)

I hope The Eldritch Cases: Dagon is Lovecraft done right

April 25th - via: destructoid.com
It's been quite a while since a game did the Cthulhu mythos, created by HP Lovecraft, really well. Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth was an inspired but uneven game and that came out in 2005. The Eldritch Cases: Dagon might be the title that does justice to the unnerving weirdness of Lovecraft's work. Developer Thomas Busse is looking to raise £20,000 to fund the game, which is looking promising even at this early stage. (Read More)

Lovecraft Lives Again in The Eldritch Cases: Dagon

April 20th - via: cliqist.com
Point and click games have been a great story telling medium since the days of DOS, and that hasn’t changed much over the years. Kickstarter is just full of these things, and for good reason: anyone can put one together. What makes an adventure game special though is the writing, the atmosphere, the puzzles, and the story, and Thomas Busse is drawing inspiration from some of the greatest stories ever told for his horror point and click, the writings of H. P. Lovecraft. (Read More)
