‘Death, Inc.’ and ‘Project Awakened’ Devs Chart Future Course After Kickstarter Failures

March 12th - via: multiplayerblog.mtv.com
What happens when a Kickstarter campaign for a new game fails? After Chris Taylor unceremoniously cancelled Gas-Powered Games’ “Wildman” fundraising effort, for example, his crippled, employee-less company was bought by Wargaming. Last week, two more promising Kickstarters failed to meet their goals: Ambient Studios’ “Death, Inc.” fell well short of its £300,000 goal, and Phosphor Games’ “Project Awakened” came a bit closer to raising the $500,000 it needed but still just missed out. (Read More)

Kickstarter Katchup

March 10th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
The winners’ podium is crowded this week, and by those that have been funded rather than the crowds wot have funded them. Hopefully, when the games are actually released, we’ll all be winners though. There are so many success stories this week that I didn’t even make room for the most ridiculous victory of all time. The spiritual successor to Torment took a mere seven hours to reach its total. Lord British, with over half a million in a few days, dreams of success like that. (Read More)

Phosphor On Project Awakened’s Life After Kickstarter

March 9th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
There are some things you can’t do, even with all the powers. Those things include healing a broken heart, parallel parking anything larger than a clown car, and evidently, solving the puzzle that is Kickstarter. Phosphor – whose crime-fighting slice of sky pie, Project Awakened, sadly went splat well before its Kickstarter crossed the finish line – knows that all too well. (Read More)

"There is a plan": Project Awakened plots a post-Kickstarter course

March 8th - via: eurogamer.net
What happens when a Kickstarter fails? In the case of Phosphor Games, the Chicago-based studio whose superhero action game Project Awakened stopped shy of its $500,000 target earlier this week, they get a call from me, asking a series of fairly insensitive questions. What went wrong? What did you learn? What's next? (Read More)

Night, Night: Project Awakened Kickstarter Falls Short

March 7th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
Project Awakened is ostensibly a game about everything ever. All the places. All the powers. All the graphics. It also heralds from a bunch of former Psi-Ops and Stranglehold developers, who originally got the superpowered idea off the ground while Midway, well, existed. And it’s still going to happen! Just, you know, eventually. In maybe a long, long time. (Read More)

Project Awakened falls short of $500K Kickstarter goal

March 6th - via: joystiq.com
Project Awakened, the attempt to reinvigorate Phosphor Games' beleaguered superhero action game, fell short of its Kickstarter goal today, raising $338,498 of a requested $500,000. On Monday, with less than two days to raise more than $200,000, Phosphor Director Chip Sineni told us that if Awakened missed its Kickstarter goal, his team would continue to develop the game in its own time. (Read More)

Kickstarter Katchup – 3rd March 2013

March 3rd - via: rockpapershotgun.com
There haven’t been any ‘losers’ in the Katchup for a while, partly because projects that are moving very slowly tend to be removed before they run out of time, and partly because there haven’t been quite as many small projects to cover. The list of ‘players’ is increasing rapidly though and even though the first comment will undoubtedly be from somebody reminded me of a game that I’ve missed, there are plenty of things to see. However, the influx of new entrants is balanced somewhat by this week’s losers. One is a small, surreal project, the other is a grander and more direct proposition. The creators of both have vowed to continue their work in some form. (Read More)

Kickstarter Katchup

February 24th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
Several projects are either on the brink of the precipice of funding failure, or in a prolonged mid-term slump. It’s enough to make a man pre-emptively proclaim the Kickstarter craze dead and buried, but if that same man then casts an eye over the promising new projects and remembers successes and shortfalls of the past, he may well decide to cancel the obituaries, at least for now, and simply play some prototypes instead. (Read More)

Kickstarter Katchup

February 17th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
Two contrasting success stories this week. Dreamfall Chapters didn’t need a full week to reach its target and come the morning, the first stretch goal will almost certainly have been reached, adding Mac and Linux support. Unwritten needed almost every second to reach its goal but did cross the finishing line with a tremendous amount of support in its final days. (Read More)

Kickstarter: Project Awakened

February 12th - via: lionsgame.wordpress.com
Phosphor Games, a studio comprised of ex-Midway Games workers, want to make a third person action game like no other. Their concept exists in a slightly altered time line where several scientific advances were made in our recent history meaning that now, we have the ability to fully unlock human potential, i.e. super powers. (Read More)

Kickstarter Katchup – 10th February 2013

February 10th - via: rockpapershotgun.com
In terms of anticipation and dollars pledged, this has been the week of Dreamfall Chapters but you already knew about that one, right? The Katchup concerns itself with all Kreatures, great and small, and there are plenty of newcomers this week, including Tom Hall’s keen platforming tools, Projects Awakened and Cornerstone, the mad and possibly brilliant Ritual Dementia and gorgeous light-speed drifter, Race The Sun. Some projects are teetering on the brink of failure but, as we have seen with the adventure game in the past, any news reports of Kickstarter’s death are entirely premature. (Read More)

'Project Awakened' Kickstarter: Create The Video Game Character Of Your Dreams

February 4th - via: forbes.com
I think character customization—particularly in RPGs—fills the same basic, primal need that playing with dolls fills in little girls. Only in grown-ups instead. At least that’s how I feel, when I really peel back the layers of my own obsession with character customization. And it’s why I’m interested in Project Awakened—a third-person shoot-em-up action game from Phosphor Games currently running the Kickstarter gauntlet. (Read More)

After a period of silence, Phosphor Games announce the Kickstarter Campaign to bring the game into development in Unreal Engine 4, once and for all. (Read More)
