Fans of Puzzle Quest, Scrabble, or Bookworm Adventures should be paying attention to the newly launched Kickstarter campaign for word-based mobile battler Apexicon right now.

As we suspected, Actos Games has set up a Kickstarter campaign for Apexicon in order to secure the funding it needs to apply the finishing touches to the game.

Without question, Apexicon's most interesting feature is the battling system. You form words from letters in a grid to cast spells and deal damage to opponents.

There are four distinct classes (Wordsmith, Idiomancer, Plagiarist, and Verbinator) from which to choose in the game. Each of these has its own story and endings.

Your task is to discover the secrets that the Literati Empire is keeping from the common people.

In the Empire's possession is the Apexicon, the origin of all words. As you might imagine, it therefore holds unprecedented power. You'll fight anyone to get to it.

Apexicon will be heading to iOS and Android after its initial launch on PC, Mac, and Linux.

You can pre-purchase a mobile copy of the game through Kickstarter for $15. Obviously, that goes towards the game's development, too.
