elliot2I’ll admit something.  I never liked Zelda 2, or Zelda II: The Adventure Of Link for you purists.  I realize this makes me an outsider amongst gamers; and it’s a cross that I bear to this day.  I saved up money for months when I heard it was coming out then headed to Circuit City the day it was released.  It took me a couple hours to realize that it wasn’t going to be top down, and my 12 year old brain seethed with unquantified hate.  The next morning I was back in Circuit City exchanging it for Xenophobe, a game that gave me its own share of heartbreak.

elliot3So what does this have to do with the Elliot Quest Kickstarter?  As soon as I saw that it was billing itself as a spiritual successor to Zelda 2 I knew had to take a closer look.  What I found was a side scrolling RPG adventure that’s equal parts sweet, depressing, and exhilarating.  You play Elliot, a man plagued with the anguish of a missing wife, a nightmarish illness that’s taking over his body, and the curse of invincibility.  As you guide Elliot in his quest to find a cure you’ll explore a variety of locales, fight some impressive bosses, customize Elliot’s abilities, and reach one of three unique endings; all the while enjoying the games’ compelling soundtrack.

You can take a closer look at Elliot Quest via the brief demo that’s available online.  If you like what you see and want to back it head to the Elliot Quest Kickstarter page before December 6th.
