red baron2Mad Otter posted an update today stating that they’re cancelling the Red Baron Kickstarter campaign.  A week into the campaign the team had only managed to raise about $33,000 of their $250,000 goal, which put them on track to get halfway to their target.  All is not lost though, according to the update the campaign will relaunch early next year.  Hopefully the next campaign will have a bit more focus, as the current one lacked any prelaunch hype, compelling rewards, as well as a concrete vision of the game.

One great aspect of this development is mentioned at the end of the update :

At the end of November we will be marking down all of the people who have followed us on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Tumblr, or joined our forums. Everyone marked will be given alpha access to the game, as long as the tier you select during our next Kickstarter campaign contains a copy of the game.

Not a bad deal.  Head over to the update for link on finding Red Baron through your favorite service, and keep your eyes peeled for more news in the near future, this isn’t the last we’ve heard of this one.
