In an introductory Kickstarter video, Miller explains that publishers aren’t always enthused with the type of game his team wants to create. Yet, he believes the style of game can still strike a chord with gamers.“[Myst] plopped you on an island,” Miller said. “You had no idea why you were there – what you were doing, and you had to discover your place in that story. It resonated with people. It surprised us how much it resonated with people.”
Miller's team includes developers like Eric Anderson, who worked for two years on Jonathan Bow's upcoming game, The Witness, and Stephen Martiniére, a writer and artist who worked on the Tron: Legacy film.
If the project reaches its crowdfunding goal of $1.1 million, we could see Obduction on Mac and PC platforms by mid-to-late 2015. Brian is an associate editor at IGN. Follow him on Twitter if you're interested in cats and Dota 2.
