Organizers rehabbing former funeral home hold Kickstarter campaign to continue renovation

FLINT, MI--The organizers behind the Spencer Art House project--an effort to rehab a former funeral home in Flint's Carriage Town using recycled materials--are looking for funds.

Part of the

, the people behind the effort recently released a video talking about the project and describing what they've already done and what they hope to do next. The video is part of a Kickstarter campaign--a way to raise money from various donors online.

According to the video they've rebuilt part of the foundation, installed an underground rainwater collection system, replaced siding and tore out an old parking lot where they plan to plant grass and make walkways. They're now looking for $12,000 more to replace the roof and an exterior wall.

They've still got a way to go. With 17 days left, they've raise $466 with 11 backers.
