The Level Three album will contain musical arrangements and recordings from the likes of Shadow of the Colossus, Skyrim, Journey, Monkey Island, DOTA 2, Final Fantasy, Silent Hill and Street Fighter 2.

The album will be recorded in a studio with a 72-piece orchestra backed by a 60-person choir and rock band.

Kickstarter funding will be spent on recording the album and fulfilling tier rewards for backers.

Rewards for pledges include a tour and lunch at Blizzard Entertainment by the Blizzard Audio Team, a 30-second personalised recording by original Snake voice actor David Hayter and signed sheet music from game composers from across the globe.

Video Games Live host and executive producer Tommy Tallarico thanked backers, and concert attendees, before quoting a line from Portal.

"I would like to thank all of our backers, those who could not back but socialized the cause and to every single person who has ever attended Video Games Live, thank you!" Tallarico said.

"In the immortal lyrics from Portal, 'This was a triumph. I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS. It's hard to overstate my satisfaction.'"

The Kickstarter campaign closes tomorrow (September 13), with the album expected to launch in February, 2014.
