Inafune's Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter has really taken off. With still 20 days to go, the project has now raised over $2 million in funding. To be more exactly, a current total of 34,949 backers have contributed $2,013,086 at time of writing. That's well beyond the original $900,000 goal, and as promised, the $2 mil mark means Mighty No. 9 will be getting a Boss Rush mode.
Boss Rush is a time-based attack mode where players fight all the bosses one after another. It will be included with the game once Mighty No. 9 is released in 2015.
The next stretch goal is $2.2 million, and would allow the Mighty No. 9 team to work on a Wii U, PS3, and Xbox 360 version of this PC side-scroller. After that, $2.4 million unlocks a Challenge Mode. The current list only goes up to $3.3 million, which promises an Xbox One and PS4 version. Holy cow.
You can still do your part to bring this game to consoles (and possibly next-gen platforms). The Kickstarter is still active, until October 1, 2013. Hardly needs saying that this project has really taken off since it was first announced during PAX.
Since then, Inafune has remarked on the similarities his new game shares with Mega Man. Not that he's at all worried.
The man deserves this after Capcom poo'd on his child.
I hope Kenzo Tsujimoto is bashing his junk in the fridge door right now.
I think he meant that one time where capcom squatted over megaman and let out a cold, hard turd.
The zero series is one of the best megaman series. The consumers were fools for not supporting it.
its why capcom is hardly making a profit anymore and why all their creative talent left them. The fact that this game got funded proves that fans still want megaman.
hell we'd be lucky to get another street fighter that isn't f2p
I'm not surprised they exceeded their targets, there are so many megaman fans around, although personally i never saw the appeal?
