Omate's TrueSmart watch device is to enter production after reaching its funding goal on crowd-sourcing website Kickstarter.

The wearable tech product, which comes with a built-in five-megapixel camera, raised more than $100,000 (£64,000) on the service.

A working prototype model of the Omate TrueSmart already exists following 18 months of development, and the company has a factory in Shenzhen ready to begin mass production.

"We already have working prototypes, but not the final design," Omate founder Nick Yap told BBC News. "Most of the functions are there but we still need to add voice and gesture controls.

"There will be a swipe-based touch function and another when you move, like Nintendo's Wii games control. For example you will be able to flick your wrist to show the clock."

The Omate TrueSmart will feature a 1.5-inch touchscreen, water resistance, GPS support, 4GB of on-board storage expandable via microSD, and Google's Android 4.2.2 operating system.

The smartwatch will retail at £190 and begin shipping to customers in October.
