UPDATE: Wii U stretch goal has been reached!

Soul Saga: Episode 1, an RPG on Kickstarter that claims to be inspired by classic Playstation JRPGs, will be coming to Wii U next year if its stretch goal of $105,000 is met.

Developed by Disastercake, Soul Saga cites games such as Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire and Persona as its influences and features a "battle initiation system similar to Chrono Trigger," turn-based battles, and, of course, a protagonist with a huge sword.

Currently, the game is just over halfway to its goal of $60,000, with 22 days left to go. Check out the project here.

UPDATE: The Wii U version is available for pre-order for $15. However, if the stretch goal is not met, the port may not happen.

UPDATE 2: The goal has been reduced to $80,000.

UPDATE 3: Wii U stretch goal has been reached.

I decided a while back to stop paying attention to game kickstarters.  Fatigue set in more than 6 months ago.

This looks pretty interesting, even though it's more than a year away. I'm gonna pledge $25 for a digital PC and Wii U version. If it doesn't get to the Wii U goal, I'll cancel, and if I like what I see in the coming days and it makes the goal, I may bump it up to something higher.

$105,000 for a Wii U port?! Rediculous much? That's almost 4 times what the Kickstarter is at now.

Ah, you must be an expert on game design. Enlighten the rest of us.

Hmm, the kickstarter page says 'I have gathered all the information I need to be able to tell you: "Yes, Soul Saga will be getting to the WiiU!"'

Nice to see some indie titles coming to the e-shop that are not retro-styled 2D platformers.

in order for it to be a true Playstation style jrpg they should announce that their story required excessive FMV can not possibly fit onto a cartridge so they have to skip Nintendo systems.

Pledged for the Vita version! This seems like a good handheld game.
