BERKELEY — Bike light company MonkeyLectric has launched a campaign to raise money to produce a light that will allow riders to display images on their bike wheels.

The Monkey Light Pro uses web-based technology that allows riders to create designs using LED lights and thousands of colors that will light up their bike wheels. Riders can upload photos, videos, draw their own designs or select from pre-loaded graphics. The images use Bluetooth technology, and they shine across the entire bike wheel once it starts spinning.

MonkeyLectric, based in Berkeley, is trying to raise $180,000 by July 21 through Kickstarter, an online crowdfunding site. The lights will sell for $895, although some Kickstarter donors will get a discount.
