DETROIT, MI - Creators of a 2009 documentary called "It Came From Detroit" seek help online to get the film about local garage rockers like The White Stripes, The Von Bondies, The Detroit Cobras and The Electric Six out on DVD.

James R. Petix, the film's director, and producer Sara Babila launched a Kickstarter fundraising campaign that runs until July 4. It's aimed to "secure all off the rights to the more than 40 songs" and numerous television clips that are used in the film.

As of 9:30 a.m. Monday, the Kickstarter "It Came From Detroit" campaign had reached $7,972 of its $15,000 goal. There were 203 backers who pledged that amount; the minimum pledge is $1. The project will only be funded if at least $15,000 is pledged by 1:12 a.m. July 4.
