Time of Eve Kickstarter Backers to Get Pale Cocoon, Mizu no Kotoba Downloads

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Yasuhiro Yoshiura's 2 early works to be available for free to those who pledge at least US$55 to campaign

Pied Piper, Directions, and Studio Rikka's Time of Eve Kickstarter campaign announced on Wednesday that backers who pledged at the US$55 level or higher will receive a digital download of director Yasuhiro Yoshiura's previous short works Mizu no Kotoba (Aquatic Language) and Pale Cocoon.

The downloads will be available to backers at January 1, 2014 at the earliest due to licensing issues. The companies explained that because both works were created in standard definition before Blu-ray Discs were available, and due to DVD region formats, the two short anime will be available for download only. The downloads will have DRM, and the companies will use a download streaming service with a link and redeem code to distribute the two works. The companies are not planning to dub the works, but subtitles will be available in all languages that will have subtitles on the Time of Eve Kickstarter release.

The companies have not yet decided if they will make the two anime available for download to non-backers, but if they do the downloads will not be free and will be available after they are available for backers.

The three companies announced on Sunday that they added a stretch goal of US$126,000 to create a new backer level that would include Kotobukiya's Time of Eve Official Fan Book translated into English. As of press time the campaign has raised US$124,384 and has nine days left.
