Project of the Day: Kickstarting Kickstarter Documentary "Kickstarted"

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

“Kickstarted”

Tweetable Logline:

An original documentary about the crowdfunding revolution.

Elevator Pitch:

This is the first documentary to look at the crowdfunding revolution and the people powering it. The film will follow the inspiring, dramatic stories of a handful of crowdfunded project creators as they raise money and then, with all of their dreams and social capital on the line, have to deliver. Those journeys are set against the background of a bigger cultural and economic sea change — where the creative/entrepreneurial class can create their own projects independently. The film will also have interviews with Zach Braff, Amanda Palmer, John Vanderslice, Brian Fargo and dozens of other prominent crowdfunding personalities.

Production Team:

Jason Cooper – Producer and co-director
Jay Armitage – Producer and co-director

Jay is the founder of the creative ad agency Ralph & Co.
Jason is a producer, mostly of digital content. He is the EP on a the LA Film Festival selection “Four Dogs.”

About the Production:

We are making this film because, as entrepreneurs and content creators ourselves, we’ve been truly inspired by the creative freedom that crowdfunding offers. We are also fascinated by the iconic stories of motivated people doing anything they can to make their dream projects come true (films like “Indie Game: The Movie” and “American Movie” were big influences). In exploring those stories, we will also look into the overall impact crowdfunding is having on every industry it touches, including art, fashion, banking, film, science, design, music and the nonprofit sector.

Current Status:

In production and raising additional funds.
