Enabot EBO X home robot Kickstarter attains nearly 20 times its goal

Enabot is a company that seems to be betting everything on the premise that the time of the home automaton has finally arrived. To this end, it has released its own latest "family bot" via Kickstarter as the ultimate fulfillment of that promise.

The EBO X is in essence an upgraded version of its Air predecessor, with a 4K camera in place of that robot's FHD shooter. Accordingly, Enabot asserts that it combines all the features of a smart speaker, a telehealth elder monitor and an electronic pet companion in one - albeit in a package that can move about by itself within the home with "precision" sensing.

The AI-enhanced gadget has a "stabilized" 4K camera for security features and supports Alexa for voice assistance, yet can also zoom autonomously around the home on its wheels thanks to "V-SLAM navigation".

These abilities, conferred by its "improved" dual-core, 5 TOPS-capable X3M chip, is rated to carry out tasks such as fall detection and to help keep pets, children or intruders out of potentially dangerous or vulnerable areas of the home.

The EBO X may also be able to help the user with home automation, voice searches or family entertainment, thanks to inbuilt Harman AudioEFX-tuned sound. Then again, there are still some limitations to its 'Sphero-on-wheels' design, mostly in its inability to climb stairs or be seen from a height or distance.

Nevertheless, the EBO X has already amassed nearly ~2000% of its US$10,000 goal (or just under US$200,000) on its Kickstarter campaign, with 41 days to go, at the time of writing.
