Tabletop publisher Possible Worlds Games has announced a fun project in the works. Next month, it will kick-off a Kickstarter for a monthly subscription service for small tabletop RPG's. This new service will allow backers to receive six TTRPGs over a six-month period with each covering a different genre.
Tyler Crumrine, Possible Worlds Games owner, took to Twitter to detail the upcoming Kickstarter and give more information on what backers can expect. The new subscription, aptly titled "Possible Worlds", will offer physical and digital tiers for backers to choose how they wish to receive their games. At the start of every month, the service will deliver one digital version of a tabletop game in a series of six planned releases. Physical backers will be mailed a physical spiral-bound copy of each game at the end of the six months, sort of like a box-set.
The planned releases for the service include games that cover a wide variety of genres. Currently, the publishers plan to release games inspired by Stardew Valley, giant robot sci-fi, Ocean's 11, superhero franchises, Disney's Aladdin, and, surprisingly, the TV game show The Dating Game.
This launch also coincides with the one-year anniversary of Possible Worlds Games' most popular release Beak, Feather, & Bone. This map-labelling game also doubles as a world-building tool for collaborative RPGs. To celebrate this milestone, the publishers will be releasing a Beak, Feather, & Bone system reference document that will allow designers to create and sell games, hacks, and supplements using its mechanical basis.
With the system reference document, the publishers will be hosting the BFBJAM, a game jam that is currently underway over at itch.io. Running from February 25 to March 22, this BFBJAM will collect community projects that are built using the system reference document. Creators will be able to submit and sell art packs, cartography, new games, and more that is inspired by Beak, Feather & Bone.
Along with Beak, Feather & Bone, Possible Worlds Games also offer a merfolk inspired add-on to the game called Tail, Scale & Bone. They are also responsible for Guess Whodunnit?, a minimal-prep and light-on-the-rules storytelling experience that utilizes the board from the classic Hasbro guessing game. Clearly, tabletops are a big priority for these folks. Therefore, they seem the perfect fit to offer such a unique subscription service for fellow tabletop lovers and players.
