Writer Jason Inman (Jupiter Jet) is teaming up with George Kambadais (The Black GhostFirefly) for a story that combines superheroes with the world of live streaming called Super Best Friend, and CBR has an exclusive first look at Travis Mercer's variant cover.

The Kickstarter for the 48-page comic has a current goal of $7,000. Backers will have access to Mercer's variant cover, with colors by Elizabeth Kramer and the Super Best Friend logo by Carlos M. Mangual. The variant, as well as several other rewards, are available to backers through Feb. 18.

Super Best Friends Cover-TRAVIS MERCER - COLOR with logo preview

Super Best Friend revolves around Mattie Moore, best friend to the world's greatest superhero, Captain Terrific. Mattie captures the captain's heroic acts on his video channel called "Super Best Friend," but everything changes when Mattie accidentally posts a video revealing Captain Terrific's secret identity. He then takes it upon himself to make things right by any means necessary.

"Super Best Friend originally came to me when I hosted DC All Access," Inman said. "If superheroes existed in the actual world, fans would post videos about them all the time, and that could lead to a lot of sticky situations. What if one of these online fan channels posted something they shouldn’t? I wanted to explore the modern superhero fandom through the lens of a superhero sidekick and superfan, Mattie Moore -- the titular Super Best Friend."
