With Resident Evil Village's recent announcement, Capcom fans have a new horror focused Resident Evil to look forward to. Between the next numbered entry and the recent remakes, some Capcom fans wonder when Dino Crisis will get the same love. While full remakes are unlikely, a new indie horror game is looking to capitalize.

Deathground is a current Kickstarter horror game that takes the abandoned Jurassic Park setting and adapts it to the modern horror standard. Developed by Jaw Drop Games, the project is currently seeking a funding goal of just over $100,000. As of writing, the project has reached over 75 percent of its goal.

Going through the Kickstarter page gives more insight into how Deathground will utilize revived dinosaurs. Deathgound will be feature both a solo and multiplayer component as survivors must evade prehistoric monsters. The pre-alpha teaser below gives players a taste of what Jaw Drop Games is planning to make after a successful campaign.

The Kickstarter page notes the inspiration for the game, and how it wasn't only driven through the developer's own desires, but through the multitude of requests for a game like Deathground. Many of those requests stem from the popularity of the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World films. While a trademark from April hints at a new Jurassic Park game, it has yet to be revealed.

Many of the "requests" surrounding the idea of a Dinosaur horror game stem directly from a game synonymous with dinosaurs. Dino Crisis continues to be a franchise that receives some of the most frequent and passionate requests for a comeback. With dream games like Shenmue 3, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and even the recently revealed Skate 4, Dino Crisis crawls higher on the list of desired dream projects.

Capcom has long overlooked the franchise since the last Dino Crisis released to critical revulsion and player disdain. Dino Crisis 3, the Original Xbox exclusive, is considered the death knell for the franchise. While rumors have circulated that a reboot was pitched to Capcom, the project was inevitably shot down according to reports.

So for the Dino Crisis fans out there, Deathground may be the closest thing to a reboot or re-imagining. While it doesn't hold the same weight, Deathground can be seen as a modern horror interpretation of dinosaur survival, so those interested should check out the Kickstarter. If a Dinosaur Horror Indie doesn't do it for fans, they could always turn Dino Crisis into the next Skate 4 and will it into existence.

Deathground is currently on Kickstarter with the funding deadline of August 7.
