Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night was funded thanks to gamers on Kickstarter. The game was released earlier this year but had some performance issues.

The developers didn’t give up after the title was released. The team has continued to roll out updates to improve the game backers helped create. The team recently released a lengthy post on Kickstarter detailing the update and what’s to come in the future.

The Nintendo Switch improvement update is now live. There are four areas of improvement: Input Lag, Visual Quality, Crashes, and Load Times.

Input lag was eliminated from the game. The controls should be more responsive, which will make gameplay slightly easier to navigate. Enemies will also be slightly easier to defeat since the lag won’t hold Miriam back.

Visual quality, or graphics, were improved. The graphics are more crisp with enhanced details. There are a few comparison photos on the update posts to show off the new graphical updates.

Those who suffered through crashes should find that overall stability has improved. There were a few specific situations, such as reading books from a bookcase, that were patched.

The most significant improvement came to load times. Loading times were reduced by 70%, but there’s 30% left to be accounted for. The remaining load time issues will be addressed on a room-by-room basis.

Unfortunately, there may still be some slight issues. Developers are aware there are some lingering technical problems that will be addressed in later updates.

As for the 1.04 update on Xbox, playable character Zangetsu, and IGA’s Back Pack DLC, the release dates are still unknown.

The remaining rewards are still being released slowly. The Alchemist’s Treasure and hardcover art book rewards in the $100-175 tiers were all shipped and should soon be on their way to backers. Collector’s Box rewards for tiers $250 and $300 are also being sent.

There have been some reports of damage to these expensive items. The team has asked backers who received damaged goods to contact them for a replacement.

Backers in Japan will also finally see their PlayStation 4 physical editions of the game after some unexpected delays.

While technical issues caused some gamers to wait until the gate was updated, it seems that the Nintendo Switch version has fixed many of the lingering issues.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
