An AOC action figure is in the works

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is getting some action.

The New York Democrat, who is expected to endorse Sen. Bernie Sanders for president, will be made into a “kickass action figure,” thanks to a Brooklyn-based design studio.

The studio, FCTRY, raised more than $27,000 in about a day on Kickstarter. She’s among the many liberal icons made into dolls by the company, which has also manufactured Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sanders and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg action figures.

A fawning campaign description explains why the 30-year-old democratic socialist currently pushing for a Green New Deal is deserving of action figure glory.

“Just two years ago, AOC was an anonymous 20-something waiting tables and tending bars in New York City, and now she is literally one of the most influential politicians in the United States,” the campaign reads. “AOC has the makings of a legend. So we’re doing what we do best and turning her into an action figure.”

The AOC doll is expected to be delivered in February 2020 for those who pledge $20 or more.

While plenty of people kicked in for the doll, it wasn’t without some criticism — as is often the case with AOC, who once dominated the news cycle when a video of her doing the “Breakfast Club” dance resurfaced online. One comment on the campaign site read, “I wish you could find a better artist. This doesn’t look at all like AOC, which is SO disappointing.”

The doll — which stands 6 inches tall — is wearing the white suit the junior congresswoman wore to her swearing-in ceremony in January, as well as her signature red lipstick and gold hoop earrings.

Her hair, however, is pulled back — so fans can’t admire last week’s $260 cut and color that sent the internet into a tizzy. Detractors accused the Bronx-born politician of “Champagne socialism,” while others argued the price tag is within reason for a public figure — and a New Yorker at that.
