Macro photographers looking for next-level lighting solutions may want to check out the adaptable and modular Xenon Flash Lighting Arms by Adaptalux.
With both continuous light and flash being useful for stunning macro shots, the latest addition to the Adaptalux Studio promises to bring powerful features and adaptability to macro photographers. UK-based Adaptalux, which specializes in LED macro lighting solutions, has just introduced the Xenon Flash Lighting Arms via Kickstarter. This new contraption is designed to work in conjunction with their existing system, so if you’re an Adaptalux Studio user considering upgrading your current macro lighting setup, this is most likely the best time to do so.
The Xenon Flash Lighting Arms serve as a modular and fully adaptable lighting solution for macro photographers and videographers. It follows the Adaptalux Studio, a portable lighting studio for macro photography and videography, which the creators also launched on Kickstarter back in 2015. As an anticipated addition to the Adaptalux Studio, the Xenon Flash Lighting Arm brings both continuous and flash lighting for macro photography and videography. If you’re constantly using flash for your masterpieces, this new addition will let you enjoy the features of Adaptalux in your flash photography setup.
According to the announcement video, each flash arm is a high-speed manual flash with five output settings. Each can be controlled manually through the Control Pod or wirelessly through the Adaptalux app. The flash arms can be positioned in any direction thanks to the flexible design. It also has a fast flash recycle time so you never miss a shot, and integrated charging software that gives you a battery life of up to 18 hours. If you’re feeling a bit more experimental, you can attach some diffusers and color gels to the head of each flash arm. The flash arms also have an infrared trigger with a sensitivity range of two meters maximum, sufficient for macro photography work.
The Xenon Flash Lighting Arms can be mounted to any camera, tripod, or stabilizer through the standard 1/4 – 20″ thread. When integrated with the Adaptalux Studio system, you can create a multi-source lighting setup for mixing and matching both flash and continuous lighting. Pair some of the flash arms with color gels and you can achieve even more creative results.
