Fully Funded Fan Film ‘Friday the 13th: Vengeance’ Will Be a Sequel to ‘Jason Lives,’ Starring C.J. Graham

While the official film franchise continues to lay dormant at the bottom of Crystal Lake, fans of Friday the 13th have been taking it upon themselves to continue the saga of Jason Voorhees in their own, totally unofficial ways, with a handful of fan films (including the standout Never Hike Alone) coming along in recent years. Another is soon on the way.

Friday the 13th: Vengeance is the latest Friday the 13th fan film to make headlines in the horror community, and it’s notable for smashing its $25,000 Kickstarter goal with, to date, a massive $38,752 in donations. With 19 days still left to go, nearly 100 fans have kicked in to support the project, showing just how hungry fans are for *anything* Voorhees related.

Coming from director Jeremy Brown, Vengeance is being billed as a 30-years-later sequel (unofficially) to Friday the 13th: Jason Lives, and that film’s Jason, C.J. Graham, is on board.

“The story begins with Elias Voorhees, Jason’s father, returning to Crystal Lake and a string of grisly murders that soon follows his arrival. After hearing the news of the most recent killings Tommy Jarvis then goes missing, which leaves it up to his daughter Angelica Jarvis to rise to the challenge of not only finding her father, but also finding a way to destroy his old nemesis Jason Voorhees in the process. Armed with knowledge never previously known about Jason, Angelica may prove to be his greatest threat yet, which culminates in an epic showdown of Jarvis vs. Voorhees.”

With a truly unique story, we believe this is the film fans have always wanted, but never gotten… until now,” Brown and his team promise. Interesting to note, that team actually includes Tom McLoughlin, the director of Friday the 13th: Jason Lives. McLoughlin will be a consultant on the film, also set to star Friday the 13th Part 2‘s Jason, Steve Dash.

Filming is underway on The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man for Universal and Blumhouse, which will be howling its way into theaters on January 17, 2025.

Deadline reports that Matilda Firth (Disenchanted) is the latest actor to sign on, joining Christopher Abbott (Poor Things),  Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel), and Sam Jaeger.

The project will mark Whannell’s second monster movie and fourth directing collaboration with Blumhouse Productions (The Invisible Man, Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3).

Wolf Man stars Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator.

Writers include Whannell & Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo.

Jason Blum is producing the film. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell are executive producers. Wolf Man is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.

In the wake of the failed Dark Universe, Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man has been the only real success story for the Universal Monsters brand, which has been struggling with recent box office flops including the comedic Renfield and period horror movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Giving him the keys to the castle once more seems like a wise idea, to say the least.
