Fireball Island: The Curse of Vul-Kar, Restoration Games update of the classic Milton Bradley press-your-luck adventure game Fireball Island, is currently raising funding on Kickstarter, and blew through it’s $250,000 goal in a little over two hours.

Restoration Games has improved the art, components, and game play.  The fireballs tumbling down the slopes are unpredictable, but now players have more control over their actions, and can make meaningful choices that affect gameplay (see "Tea-sipping Dinosaurs, Volcanic Islands, and High-Speed Racers").  The game ends when one of the players collects snapshots from three different spots on the island and manages to return to the helipad. The winner is the player with the most valuable treasure.  The game is for 2 – 4 players, ages 7 and up, and plays in 30 – 60 minutes.  MSRP is $70.00.

The Last Adventurer offers the option of a fifth player in the game, as well as character-specific player powers, dangerous snakes, and a rolling boulder.   MSRP is $25.00.  This expansion will release at the same time as the base game.

A month later, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Bees! will release.  It comes with a new dexterity-based skill mechanic that can be added to the game, eliminating “safe” spaces.  MSRP is $15.00.

Finally, two months after release,
Wreck of the Crimson Cutlass will release. It features a new island game board with new treasures to collect and cannonballs to evade.  MSRP is $40.00.

Backer fulfillment is planned for November, with trade release to follow.  The Kickstarter includes a retailer backer level where retailers pledge $20 now and then set their order (min. 3 copies),and pay the balance when the game is ready to ship.  The Kickstarter has raised more than $345,000 and attracted more than 2,700 backers as of this writing and runs through Thursday May 3.
