Children of Morta first appeared on our radar when it showed up on Kickstarter back in early 2015. The game got its first official gameplay reveal back in 2017 and Shacknews editor Charles Singletary got a closer look at PAX back in January. As the game approaches its expected 2018 release, Dead Mage, the developers on Children of Morta, brought the game to show off at GDC. Shacknews video editor and amateur chinchilla breeder Greg Burke got the chance to have a talk with the game’s narrative designer on the GDC floor.

Children of Morta has a strong focus on the family at the center of the game, which is discussed in the interview. Greg also pokes and prods for information on the game’s environments, its Nintendo Switch port, and the Kickstarter experience.

Children of Morta has been racking up awards and acclaim at every industry show it has appeared. The game features breathtaking pixel art and a focus on story that sets it apart from other games in the genre. The team at Dead Mage has plans to release the game on Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PS4 sometime in 2018.
