Polymorph Games, the developer of the game "Foundation," launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for the grid-less, sprawling medieval city-building simulation game.

According to its Kickstarter campaign page, "Foundation" has a goal of  $58,947 (it has raised almost $52,000 by the time this article was written). The campaign has different reward tiers interested players can avail of with rewards such as a copy of the game; access to "Foundation's" beta; access to the game's closed alpha; various "Foundation" merchandise; an opportunity to name a character in the game or a foreign village; create and design an in-game event or an achievement; become one of the few potential Queen, King, and Pope of "Foundation;"  have their likeness be used as an in-game piece of concept art; and have their names be listed in the game's credit with the corresponding title of the reward tier they purchased.

According to Polymorph, "Foundation" is a grid-less, sprawling medieval city-building simulation focusing heavily on organic development, monument construction and resource management. The game features a mix of  resource management like that of the "Anno 1404" ("Dawn of Discovery") and elements of city-building from "Settlers," "SimCity" and "Pharaoh," alongside narrative encounters inspired by "Crusader Kings II."

The Kickstarter campaign page of the game gave a more detailed explanation of "Foundation's" gameplay. "Foundation" aims to break the mold of modern city-building simulations by giving players the chance to build cities organically — messily placed buildings that are built too close to each other by reusing old walls in order to confuse enemies and to save time walking. Players will be taking on the role of a lord who is tasked to use a "painting-tool" to create zones which are residential, resource extraction zones, cultivated lands and forbidden lands.

"Foundation's" Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign is scheduled to run until March 16 at 1 a.m. AWST.
