10 vintage rave flyers from the UK clubbing’s golden age

John Digweed and Bill Brewster among those already lending their support...

Clubbing and iconic images tend to go hand in hand. From fabric’s provocative artwork to Ministry of Sound’s infamous crowned gates, the electronic music landscape has long been a place of memorable artwork and imagery.

A new book, Clubbed, is set to give these and many other designs their dues. A Kickstarter project by Rick Banks that aims to highlight and celebrate some of the scene’s most iconic imagery, the book will feature logos, posters, photography, tickets, menus, cover art, signage, lanyards, fonts and, yes, flyers from the last 35 years.

The deluxe hardback will feature a dazzling collection of never-before-published materials and a specially commissioned editorial from Bill Brewster.

Many of the graphics in the book are pre-digital so a lot of time has been spent scanning old transparencies, bromides and retouching physical hard copies. In some cases the graphics have been recreated from scratch down to every minute detail, while the highly-produced cover features diamond dust that mimicks a dark and ethereal club environment.

A perfect gift for the ardent raver in your life, Clubbed is a beautiful reminder of the creativity that flows throughout the electronic music industry.
