This Pocket Laser Burner Can Engrave Any Design Onto Almost Any Surface

The Cubiio is a compact device that can engrave and cut almost any material. It works in conjunction with an easy to use smartphone app. Simply connect your phone to Cubiio, select your design and you’ll have your engraved item in minutes. From personalizing your phone cover to decorating food the Cubiio can do it all.

Cubbio works on paper, cardboard, craft board, leather, and wood. The Taiwanese based company reached an incredible $75,000 USD over its set goal of $25,000. This is despite having to cancel pledges and remove its promotion video after Kickstarter objected to the product being shown without its protective shield. 

The now updated Kickstarter page includes a lengthy section with safety instructions and details of the shield. The shield is designed to enclose the laser and keep curious hands outside. The shield also acts as a ventilator. It has a built in air filter that ‘extracts and filters off the produced toxic fumes, harmful particles, and smell.’ Even with this feature, the inventors recommend only using the device in a well-ventilated space.

Kickstarter is full of really cool examples created by Cubbio including laser cut jewelry and a bunch of personalized items from furniture to travel diaries.
