Retronauts gaming podcast achieves Kickstarter goal in less than 24 hours

Classic gaming podcast Retronauts surpassed its $12,000 goal on Kickstarter within the first day of fundraising and has more than doubled that amount since its launch on March 22.

The Kickstarter, spearheaded by Bob Mackey, Ray Barnholt and Jeremy Parish, will fund semi-monthly episodes for a year. Shows will feature the aforementioned hosts, as well as rotating guests.

Back tiers being at $10 and end at $300, with rewards including a shout-out during a thank you segment, stickers, a Retronauts DVD and the ability to decide an entire episode topic.

The Kickstarter campaign ends April 21. As of Sunday morning, 594 backers have already contributed $26,913. Retronauts was previously produced as part of 1up.com, which was shuttered in February during IGN layoffs. The podcast had been in production since 2006 and produced more than 160 episodes.
