THERE is finally a solution for people who cannot decide between an iPhone or a smartphone running Google's Android mobile operating system. Here's how to get the best of both worlds … ish.
Those who cannot decide between Apple's iOS – the mobile operating system that powers the company's iPhone – and Google's open-source Android mobile operating system might finally have a solution.
A new smartphone case combines the two operating systems – allowing device owners the best of both worlds.
iPhone is widely-viewed as being easier to use and more user friendly than Android.
However there are a number of customisation options available on Android OS, that the iPhone is simply not capable of matching.
Entrepreneur Joseph Savion and his company ESTI Inc have included a separate Android device on the back of their all-new iPhone case.
Yes, you read that right. You literally get an Android smartphone fitted to the back of your iPhone.
The smartphone case, which is currently seeking funding on KickStarter, brings a five-inch AMOLED display, a 2.3GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU and 2,800mAh battery to your iPhone case.
It also supports expansion via microSD up to 256GB, dual SIM card slots, a 3.5mm headphone port and wireless charging.
There are two versions of this best-of-both-worlds case – one with mobile connectivity and one without.
Those who buy the cases without support for cellular connectivity are able to connect the Android device to the iPhone's internet connection, entrepreneur Mr Savion has revealed.
The Android device baked into the case runs Android 7.1 Nougat.
The final product will retail for $189 (roughly £155), or $229 (roughly £188) for the 4G version.
However, those who get in early and pledge money on KickStarter are able to pick-up the cases for $95 (roughly £78), or $129 (roughly £106) for 4G.
Although it might seem a little pointless (if iPhone owners wanted to experiment with Android, surely they would be better off buying a separate handset for $229?) it appears to have captured the public's imagination.
At time of writing, the KickStarter has already blitzed past its funding goal – with $114,022 of its $95,000 goal pledged by 819 backers.
The project still has 32 days to go.
The news comes as Apple is rumoured to be gearing up for its next major product launch.
The Cupertino-based technology company could debut its latest iPhone 7, iPhone SE and iPad models at a press conference as soon as next week, one reliable analyst has claimed.
