Star Wars fans begin Kickstarter campaign to make a fan-film set in The Old Republic era “Eternal”

If you are a fan of Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO video game, then we’ve got some great news for you! You can help young filmmakers create a fan-film from The Old Republic era, titled — “Eternal”

The wildly popular massively multiplayer online game, Star Wars: The Old Republic, introduced a brand new galactic royal family in 2015, with the game’s fifth expansion — Knights of the Fallen Empire. In the expansion, the Immortal Emperor of the Eternal Throne (Valkorion) is shown to have two sons (Arcann and Thexan), and a daughter (Vaylin), with his companion, and commander of his royal guard — Senya.

Now, Star Wars: The Old Republic has moved on its next expansion, Knights of the Eternal Throne, which expands on the story of that royal family, and some young filmmakers are looking to make a fan-film based on that subject.

Eternal is an all-new Kickstarter campaign launched by writer Tim Bustin and director Henry Fuller. Here’s their video pitch:

"5000 years before the events of Death Stars and Skywalkers, there was the Eternal Empire: a great dominion, led by a fractured family, that conquered both Jedi and Sith alike. Eternal is a Star Wars fan film dedicated to telling the story of that family."

The campaign has a pledged goal of $932, with $107 currently reached. As Eternal‘s writer, Tim Bustin notes, the largest obstacle the production team faces is getting the fight choreography, costume, and weaponry from The Old Republic era just right.

During the (for now) non-canonical era of Star Wars: The Old Republic, there were thousands upon thousands of Jedi and Sith living throughout the galaxy, so recreating that timeline and getting it as accurate as possible, will be a great challenge that I am excited to see this team achieve.
