After an unsuccessful Kickstarter turned into a homegrown crowdfunding campaign, Heavy Gear Assault has finally emerged on Steam Early Access in all its robot brawling glory. As a pilot on the dystopian planet of Terra Nova, you survive by competing in the high-risk, high-reward sport of Gear Duelling, which is, in essence, giant mechanised war machines blowing each other to bits. Outside of the arena, you’ll need to maintain and upgrade your mech, manage your support staff and schmooze with corporate sponsors. Oh, and the robots ride around on roller skates, which is pretty lovely.
