Not that long ago I interviewed the team behind the awesome little indie mecha game, Code:HARDCORE. Well, now the game is undergoing a crowdfunding campaign to allow for things like a release on consoles.

In the crowdfunding trailer (shown below), Louiky Mu does his best to explain what the game is about and what inspired its creation. The particular point about not being able to play the awesome battle animations in the Super Robot Wars games is something that makes a great deal of sense to me.

He’s right too, we entirely need a game like that and from what I’ve seen of Code:HARDCORE thus far it looks like the team could have managed to pull this immense feat off.

At the very least, Code:HARDCORE has some of the nicest 2D mecha animation I’ve seen in any game, even when compared to the Super Robot Wars series.

While the initial plan for the game seems to have been based around multiplayer, this crowdfunding campaign also mentions a story mode as well as all manner of other features.

The game will also be playable at this year’s Tokyo Game Show and I intend to check it out, so expect impressions on that once I have finally played it.

In any case, I wish the team behind this the best of luck, as they genuinely deserve to get the funding they need to make this game as good as it can be.

You can support Code:HARDCORE on both Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight.

Disclosure: I have no professional or financial affiliation with this studio, nor have I backed their crowdfunding campaign.
