You can donate now via Kickstarter

Studio 338 announced yesterday that it’d release details today about the club re-opening after this month’s fire. Information has now arrived and 338 has launched a Kickstarter campaign to get things moving.

It hopes to open the terrace in “just a few short months” and is asking for donations to do so. Instead of just asking for donations with no return, there’s plenty of incentives for those who want to provide for the cause.

A donation of £5 guarantees you a free party once a year and your name will have a spot on the 338 'family wall', a permanent installation in the club's new terrace entrance. A free pass for the year and tickets to the re-opening weekend are also up for grabs in return for higher donations.

Although the target on Kickstarter is £100,000, the page's description says the re-opening will cost around £600,000 to £700,000 with a new glass ceiling, wooden floors and VOID soundsystem all needed.

Dan Perrin, 338's music and events director, says: "Obviously the past few weeks have been some of the hardest of my life so far. Anyone who knows me and the team here will be aware that getting Studio 338 to where it was before the fire took a huge amount of passion and hard work so to watch it burn down just a few weeks after we had finally installed the long-awaited glass roof was almost too much to bear. Subsequently to find out about Tomas' injuries and then for him to lose his battle almost broke us.

"We have been overwhelmed by the support we have received and we just cant let all the magic burn away. I want to be back to where we had been as soon as possible, surrounded by the music loving family we have built over the past 2 and half years, enjoying being together on the terrace once again."

If Studio 338 is unable to re-open, all money raised will go to Music and the Deaf, a charity which provides musical opportunities for those with hearing loss.
