While using a single backpack to pack for a seven day trip sounds like a stretch, that’s exactly the capacity that the Nomatic Travel Bag claims it can handle. Of course, it doesn’t do that by being a regular bag, as it incorporates facilities that allow it to maximize an erstwhile limited room.
To achieve that seven-day packing capacity, it comes with a removable vacuum bag that can compress a whole lot of clothes into a compact pile. It only takes up a portion of the 19 x 12-inch main compartment, too, leaving you plenty of room to add other gear inside.
The Nomatic Travel Bag’s main compartment is designed to open flat, so you can fill every nook and cranny with your stuff just like a regular travel suitcase. A small compartment on top of the bag leaves enough room for socks and undergarments (or a packable jacket), with the bottom of the bag sporting a handy shoe compartment sized to hold up to two pairs. It comes with two padded pockets on the underside of the lid, one for a 15-inch laptop and another for a tablet, with an accompanying laundry bag for your dirty clothes sized to fit in the shoe compartment.
It’s also convertible, able to function as both a backpack and a duffel, all while using the exact same straps for carrying it in both modes (no need to attach or detach anything). Features include waterproof and durable tarpaulin construction, an RFID-blocking pocket, a water bottle pocket on top, and various smaller pockets for small and loose items.
A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for the Nomatic Travel Bag. Pledges to reserve a unit starts at $169.
