We at Cliqist use a service called Trello to decide who writes what stories. Right now, it’s full of stuff no one really wants, and its getting out of hand. Or out of foot I should say, because one of the available stories is about a pair of Yooka-Laylee socks. Might as well knock this one out.

Yeah, I think I can get 150 words out of this, if I pad it. Pad it like these (maybe) high quality socks that is! God, this is only been 91 words so far.

This is perhaps one of the stranger Kickstarter campaigns around. It’s not because the product is weird, although it kind of is, it’s just not something you ever expect to see. A Kickstarter for socks, one pair of which is based on characters from a Kickstartered game, that’s on track to raise over $381,000? How? Why?

Baby it to me, sock.

What can you possibly say about this? There are plenty of questions, sure, but what kind of analysis can you give a pair of socks that might raise half a million dollars? I’ve got a feature on the ridiculously high number of failed 3D platformers on Kickstarter, and now I have to live the rest of my life with this knowledge?

Kickstarter is a strange, cruel mistress.
