Kickstarter campaign takes off for The Capri Connection
It's been nine years since adventure gamers took their first virtual trip to the lovely Italian island of Capri, and six years since the last. But with the help of Kickstarter, indie developers S-G Software are hoping to take players back once again to complete the trilogy in The Capri Connection.
While plot details are being kept tightly under wraps for now, the new first-person point-and-click adventure will once again consist of animated photographs of real places and real people in their natural environment. For the first time in the series, however, The Capri Connection will broaden its traveling horizons "from Capri to other gorgeous places nearby, such as the Amalfi Coast, Naples and other islands."
Once again, an "Adventure Game Mode" will thrust players into the heart of a mystery that involves "visiting sites and solving puzzles along the way in order to reach the final solution", while in "Walking Mode" players will have the option to simply explore "as a tourist along with a virtual tour guide showing the beauties and the features of each location".
In order to make this dream vacation a reality, developers Gey and Silvio Savarese are asking for $30,000 by April 30. A successful crowdfunding campaign will enable them to shoot the "tens of thousands of photos" needed to make the game, which they're currently aiming to complete by March 2014.
A minimum $25 pledge will result in a copy-protected download version of The Capri Connection, while a $35 pledge will provide a boxed version. Higher tiers offer rewards such as personal voice acting and photograph participation in the game, along with various tour-related perks on the island of Capri itself for the bigger spenders.
