The PINE A64 is another "do it yourself" computer available for a very cheap price. The PINE A64 aims to take some of the momentum that is coming from the Raspberry Pi.

The PINE A64 is a single board computer in a small unit, with a 64 bit processor, and it will start at just $15, Engadget reports.

The small 3.125 x 5 inch unit includes a quad-core ARM Cortex A53 1.2 GHz processor, dual-core Mali 400 MP2 graphics and the capability to hold up to 2 GB of DDR3 SDRAM.

The PINE A64 also has a microSD slot with support up to 256 GB, ethernet speeds up to a gigabit, two USB ports and an HDMI 1.4 connector. The HDMI connector allows 4K output if a user wants to use a 4K monitor.

Built into the unit is a 3.7V Lithium battery charging circuit. Users can also choose to use a battery that is managed by on-board power.

With customization, PINE A64 buyers can add different modules to customize their experience. There is a 5-megapixel camera port, a 4 lane MIPI video port, a touch panel port, WiFi connectivity and Bluetooth 4.0 support.

The goal of the PINE A64 is to help people create their own computing experience for a very affordable price. 

The PINE A64 can act as a mini computer, help people run their connected home or media centers and even act like a gaming console. The unit will operate Android, Linux and other operating systems.

The entry-level PINE A64 starts at $15 and is available via Kickstarter pre-orders only. For $19 or $29, users can get more RAM and features. When thy are ready, the units will start be sent out in February.

PINE64 Inc. has a goal of $31,416 that it hopes to raise through the Kickstarter campaign. With the popularity of the Raspberry Pi and other do-it-yourself computers, it is very likely that the PINE 64 reaches that goal.
