Inkkas Achieves Kickstarter Fundraising Goal To Open Its First Retail Store

Thanks to its latest Kickstarter campaign, Inkkas will soon be opening its first brick-and-mortar store.

In less than one hour, on Nov. 4, the Brooklyn, N.Y.-based footwear brand had well exceeded its fundraising goal, which will allow it to turn its pop-up store at 77 Franklin Street into a permanent retail location. Combined with its two other crowdfunding campaigns, launched in 2013 and 2014, the brand succeeded in raising more than $200,000.

To thank fans for supporting its mission, Inkkas will offer backers the exclusive chance to order upcoming styles from its spring ’16 collection, as well as the opportunity to get discounts on the Inkkas Classic collection featuring the brand’s signature Peruvian textiles.

Founded in 2012, Inkkas sells its line of handcrafted textile shoes on its website, Inkkas.com, as well as in national retailers such as Nordstrom, Whole Foods, J. Crew and Forever 21. As part of its OneShoeOneTree project, Inkkas plants a tree for every purchase, to help reforest the world and provide sustenance for local populations in developing countries.
