Add your air freshener to the list; the list of items in your home like your lights, your thermostat, your shades, that you can now control through an app on your phone. This is the Pura Scents Smart Air Freshener.

“You can control timing, scheduling, the reordering,” explains Bruno Lima of Pura Scents. “It actually shows you how much fragrance you have left and it’ll give you a popup message when you’re almost out of fragrance so you can just push a little button and we ship it directly to your house. Everything is run through Wi-Fi, so the moment you leave your house, everything turns off - there’s no waste. We’re trying to save you money. When you return home, everything goes back to its original schedule, but you can also turn it on remotely. So if you’re out and about on a date and you want to head back to your place, you can actually, from your phone, turn it on so when you get back to the house, everything smells the way that you want and looks the way you want."

The device holds two scents at a time and doubles as an LED night light that you can also change via your phone.

Now you may be thinking, "OK, it’s cool that I can control my room deodorizer with my mobile phone, but why would I want to?" Well, this seems to be one of those tech ideas that the more you think about it the more it makes sense.

“A lot of people have issues waking up, going to bed - you can put a calming lavender, you know a lavender dream, to help put you to sleep at night,” Lima says. “You can schedule it every time you go to bed. And then when it’s time to wake up you can have a bright nightlight and you can have a pick-me-up, whether it be a latte scent or just something like a citrus to help you wake up."

Developers also say there is a no-scent odor eliminator you can set to go off in your kitchen after dinner each night, or in the bathroom while you sleep. They even have a scent with pheromones to potentially help give romantic evenings a bit of a nudge. Right now, Pura Scents is a Kickstarter project. It is scheduled to launch next spring for around $80
