Last week the Kickstarter campaign for Larian Studios’ Divinity: Original Sin 2 surpassed $1.2 million, hitting a major stretch goal. As funding continued to rise, there were only two stretch goals left to hit. It was a given that Larian would add more, but at the time we had no idea what they might be.

Yesterday Larian posted a Kickstarter update noting that the campaign’s $1.35 million goal had been met, unlocking the Pick a Skill Tree II option, with only the Hall of Echoes goal remaining. Fortunately, the company also that it had added stretch goals up to the $2 million mark to make sure that funding would continue to roll in.

Four new stretch goals in total have been added, with the first unlocked at $1.65 million: dedicated mod tool support. If this goal is met, Larian will hire a team to make the editor “as intuitive as possible” to help the community around the game “build all kinds of new awesomeness.”

Just $100,000 more at $1.65 million will bring Love / Hate, expanding on the dynamic relationship system being developed for the game.  $1.85 million will bring a shapeshifting mask to the game. “One moment you’re a lizard, the next an ordinary human, with completely different dialog options (and visuals of course). By expanding on our tag system, we’ll let you assume different roles in the game with the same character,” Larian writes.

The final goal, unlocked at $2 million, will add Dungeon Master Mode to the game. This will bring the editor into the game, allowing the given “dungeon master” the ability to adjust and control the dungeon while players are in the midst of it.

Whether any of these goals will be hit remains to be seen, but the campaign has raised $1,374,592 at the time of this writing, so it seems likely that at least some of the new stretch goals will be unlocked.

Larian is still taking ideas from backers on how certain aspects of the game will work, so if you want to put a word in, head over to the Kickstarter page for Divinity: Original Sin 2.
