Purrfectly Ever After - First Impressions

Purrfectly Ever After is a new, in-development otome game by the brand-new Weeev studio. I don’t want to copy and paste too much, but the MC in the game is a cat (with rather criminal tendencies) who makes a wish to become human… and it comes true!

This mini-pre-review is drawn from the presskit materials and other online resources about the game, which are linked below. Definitely check those out if you’re interested!

Characters

The characters that are currently in development are above. From left to right, their names are Yoshino, Cassian, Sirius, Kofuji, and Kale. Detailed descriptions of each character are up on Prefundia, while you can watch promo videos on the purrfectlyeverafter tumblr or the Weeev Facebook page

I really like Kale’s description and voice sample; cute, compassionate, with a mysterious past and a deep voice… I also think Yoshino would be fun to play, as you don’t often see characters in tome games with a more alternative look (and I am SO glad to see one). The game demo isn’t even out and I’m picking biases!

I think the premise of PEA is really unique, and as an animal lover, something I’m very excited about. The character designs are all very detailed and very distinct from one another, and the personality details given don’t always line up with the character’s appearance! Even more interestingly, the characters seem to break the traditional otome game mold of “oresama, tsundere, kuudere…”, which will be a nice change of pace. That said, they’re all very good-looking… and there will be at least 5 CGs per route!

Audio

This game is fully voiced (and voiced well, from what I’ve heard!) in Japanese, which is a major perk for me because it makes the characters seem more real when you can actually hear them talking to you. The prices for the routes and epilogues (same as Voltage prices, $3.99 USD for a main route and $1.99 for an epilogue)) are very reasonable considering that you get a complete voiced story for your money. The background music samples that are available are also very well-composed; not intrusive so that they would distract you, but they do seem like they would provide a nice atmosphere while you enjoy the game.

Demo/Kickstarter/Technical Details

The Kickstarter page is planned to go live once the demo is available to play. The first stretch goal is the release of a hidden character, but all we know right now is that his name will be Bucky. I want him anyway; I like to have options. :)

Purrfectly Ever After will be available on iOS and Android when it is released (though it seems the demo may only be for iOS), which right now is tentatively scheduled for October of 2015.

If this game seems like one you would like to play, I encourage you to donate to the Kickstarter when it becomes available so you can help make it a reality! PEA looks like an innovative, entertaining otome game with fresh ideas, and I will be making my donation as soon as the opportunity presents itself.

I’ll be posting more about this game after I’ve played the demo. I’m sure I’ll have a lot more good things to say.
